OEM GM Lights
GM factory lighting comes in many kinds. The most common types are headlights, daytime running lights (also called DRLs), and taillights. A headlight can be low-beam or high-beam. Most vehicles today have both functions. Low beams are good for most driving environments. High beams, you use in extreme dark. They're brighter and they shine wider. You can also use headlighting as "flashers." These hazard lights warn drivers of danger nearby and can also tell them that you need help. DRLs and tail lighting help drivers in front of and behind you see you better.
There's a light on a GM vehicle for nearly every other use you can imagine. Signal lights are blinkers that indicate a turn or lane change. Brake lights indicate slowdowns or stops. Fog lights shine low to illuminate your surroundings better, and they're ideal for when the weather's bad. There's even specialty lighting out there. It accents license plate frames and other exterior accessories.
Headlamp or tail lamp, lights are often one of three bulb types. Halogen bulbs, you'll find in most small cars. Xenon or high-intensity discharge (HID) bulbs, you'll find in most sports cars. They shine brighter and last longer. LED bulbs are commonest in newer vehicles. They don't create much heat, being energy efficient.
